A Fun-Filled Fundraiser
Our Legion branch started the Chase the Ace (CTA) fundraiser over fifteen years ago, initially with three groups participating – the Antigonish Junior Bulldogs, CACL, and the Antigonish Legion. At that time you had to be present at the event if your ticket was drawn. Eventually after a few draws, the Legion decided in 2014 to run the draws alone. To this day the draw is held each Friday with exception of holidays (if they fall on a Friday) and the lounge at the legion is an active spot on Fridays. It is not necessary for the ticket holder to be present if drawn which allows folks to purchase tickets at various venues in the community and at the legion lounge daily.

Giving Back to the Local Community
Legion Branch 059 (Arras Branch)
There have been substantial amounts won in the past (as high as $100,000) with only two cards remaining in the deck. Chase the Ace (CTA) has turned out to be a great fundraiser for the local Legion, and acts as a gathering place for locals to gather on Friday evenings with live music provided by various local musicians. The Legion is thankful for the support of the local community and beyond, and is very thankful for the group of volunteers who weekly give their time to sell tickets and work at the CTA event on Fridays to manage the upcoming draw. Mangaging the draw involves counting all the tickets and auditing the weekly funds for the current draw.
With CTA, there is a winner each week. If the Ace is not picked, the winner takes home a percentage of that night’s sales. If the Ace is drawn, then a cheque for the larger prize win is presented.
